Propane and Natural Gas
To make a complete break from imported oil, and to slash a fleet's fueling budget, natural gas or propane should be considered.
PROPANE - C3 H8
- movement of late toward light duty passenger vehicles, including propane police patrol vehicles. School buses too! A favorite for forklifts and lawn equipment as well. -fueling equipment much less expensive than natural gas. -propane costs more than natural gas. |
NATURAL GAS - CH4
- movement of late is CNG to medium to heavy delivery trucks, garbage trucks, and shuttle buses that return to a central garage at night. LNG to Class 8, over the road tractor trailers. Both burn cleaner than propane. -Compression or cryogenic equipment and storage tanks are expensive necessities, however, natural gas is the least expensive combustible fuel per mile. |
Clean Cities has a wealth of information on gaseous fuels and your Coordinator is available to help you determine if one will work for your fleet.
